Positioned at the intersection of commerce and culture, the Design Gallery showcases premium products by local brands — from lifestyle goods to tech accessories — and plays a vital role in promoting Hong Kong’s design identity to the global market.

Bringing Hong Kong’s Creative Spirit to Life

HKTDC Design Gallery aimed to promote the HKTDC brand in Malaysia and establish a presence in the Malaysian market. The objective was to reinvent its physical retail and exhibition presence into a more immersive and visually compelling experience that reflects the dynamic spirit of Hong Kong’s design culture. Although well recognised as a platform championing local creative products, the brand faced challenges standing out within crowded international trade shows and high-traffic mall environments. What was needed was a bold design approach that could immediately capture attention, strengthen cultural storytelling, and elevate the overall perception of Hong Kong–designed products through a distinctive, memorable presence.

Designing Hong Kong’s Urban Spirit

NOGAP Creative conceptualised a bold visual experience under the theme “Where Culture Meets Creativity” for a retail pop-up in Malaysia. The booth celebrates Hong Kong’s essence through high-saturation colours, iconic cultural graphics, and playful spatial design inspired by neon signage, street motifs, and symbols such as the Ding Ding tram and the Star Ferry.

Beyond aesthetics, the pop-up functions as both a retail showcase and an immersive brand storytelling space for Malaysian audiences. Geometric graphics, bilingual typography, and modular structures ensure visual consistency across physical and digital touchpoints, while enhancing accessibility in a cross-cultural market.

Amplifying Brand Presence Through Influencer Engagement

To further amplify reach and engagement, NOGAP Creative also curated and engaged local influencers for the pop-up events, extending brand visibility across social and digital platforms. This transformation strengthened the HKTDC Design Gallery’s presence in Malaysia, helping position it as a contemporary ambassador of Hong Kong design on an international stage.
