Bridging Generations: Transforming Malaysia Gifts Fair into a Gen Z Experience

The Challenge

In recent years, the Malaysia Gifts Fair had mainly attracted Generation X and Y visitors, leading to an age gap in audience engagement. The key challenge was to broaden the demographic reach and make the fair more relevant and appealing to Generation Z — a digitally native group with evolving tastes and sourcing behaviors. The goal was to inspire younger audiences, including future potential buyers and decision-makers, to visit the fair and explore new opportunities for product sourcing and business collaboration.

Our Solution

To connect with a younger, digitally native audience, NOGAP crafted a multi-platform social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and XHS (Red Note). Centered on seven creative content themes, the campaign tapped into Gen Z’s values, aesthetics, and online habits through short-form videos, reels, and storytelling-style posts.

By strategically leveraging XHS, the campaign extended beyond Malaysia to reach Chinese-speaking audiences across China, Taiwan, and other key markets — boosting regional visibility. This integrated approach transformed social engagement into real-world participation, making the Malaysia Gifts Fair a standout success among Gen Z visitors and future decision-makers.

Key Results

The campaign generated remarkable digital traction and on-ground impact, successfully capturing the attention of Generation Z and converting online engagement into real event participation. It not only elevated brand perception and broadened audience demographics, but also marked a significant generational shift for the Malaysia Gifts Fair. Through this strategic approach, we successfully attracted over 800 Gen Z visitors to exhibitor booths, effectively bridging the gap between social engagement and real-world experience.

Event Day

The Malaysia Gifts Fair 2025 was held from 24th to 26th June 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Over three dynamic days, the fair welcomed close to 15,000 trade visitors and hundreds of exhibitors, creating a vibrant platform for business networking and product sourcing.

The event showcased a wide spectrum of gifting solutions, from corporate merchandise and sustainable packaging to cutting-edge, tech-driven products — offering buyers fresh insights, partnership opportunities, and a glimpse into the future of the global gifting industry.
